The governing framework that ensures clarity, fairness, and sustainability for all members.

Preamble

LifeRegistry is established as a structured, rules‑based membership registry. The following rules (the “Constitution”) govern the operation of the Registry, the rights and obligations of members, and the discretionary framework. These rules are binding on all members and the Registry.

1. Membership

  • Open to UK residents under the age threshold (see current rules).
  • Membership is personal and non‑transferable.
  • Subject to acceptance of these rules and payment of fees.
  • May be cancelled at any time by the member or by the Registry for non‑payment.

2. Fees & Contributions

  • One‑time administrative activation fee (payable by debit card).
  • Monthly membership contributions by Direct Debit.
  • Fees are pooled, not held in individual accounts.
  • Changes to fees will be notified 30 days in advance.

3. Discretionary Framework

  • Contributions are discretionary, not guaranteed.
  • Payments are subject to available reserves at the time.
  • No individual entitlement or savings build‑up.
  • Limits and eligibility are published and may be updated.

4. Moratorium & Eligibility

  • Months 0–24: No eligibility.
  • Months 25–36: Up to £3,000 (partial).
  • Month 37+: Up to £6,000 (full band).
  • Eligibility is subject to continuous membership and these rules.

5. Changes to Rules

  • Changes generally apply to new members only, unless essential for sustainability.
  • No retrospective entitlements are created.

6. Notification of Death

  • Representative must notify us in writing with death certificate.
  • Proof of authority (probate / administration) required.
  • Discretionary contribution assessed per rules and reserves.

Detailed Constitutional Provisions

1.1 Membership is open to individuals aged 18 and over who are resident in the UK and meet the age criteria published in the current fee schedule. The Registry may request proof of age and residency.

1.2 Membership is effective from the date of acceptance and payment of the administrative fee. A membership confirmation will be sent by email.

1.3 Membership may be terminated by the member at any time by written notice. Termination will be effective from the date we receive the notice, provided all due fees are paid up to that date.

1.4 The Registry may terminate membership with immediate effect if a member fails to pay contributions, provides false information, or acts in a way that brings the Registry into disrepute.

2.1 All fees and contributions are non‑refundable, except as required by law or at the Registry’s sole discretion.

2.2 Monthly contributions must be paid by Direct Debit. If a Direct Debit is cancelled or fails, the member has 14 days to remedy; otherwise membership may be suspended or terminated.

2.3 The Registry may increase monthly contributions by giving at least 30 days’ notice. A member who does not wish to accept the increase may cancel before it takes effect.

2.4 Administrative fees are fixed at the time of activation and are not refunded on cancellation.

3.1 Any contribution is at the absolute discretion of the Registry, exercised in accordance with these rules and the availability of reserves.

3.2 No member or representative has a right to demand or expect a payment. The decision of the Registry is final.

3.3 The maximum contribution bands are as stated in the moratorium schedule, but actual payment may be less depending on reserves and individual circumstances.

3.4 If a member rejoins after cancellation, the moratorium period restarts from the new join date.

4.1 The Registry may amend these rules from time to time. Amendments will be published on the website and notified to members by email at least 14 days before they take effect, where practicable.

4.2 Amendments will apply prospectively. Where an amendment materially affects eligibility, it will generally apply only to new members unless the Registry determines that a change is necessary to ensure the sustainability of the framework, in which case reasonable notice will be given.

4.3 These rules are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
